Artisan Maille Armour Galvanized Steel Epaulets for leather jacket. Composed of 1/4" ID (inside diameter) galvanized steel rings in the 4-in-1 armour pattern with dag. Rings are handwound wire, cut individually and assembled by hand. Each epaulet measures approximately 4" long and 3" wide. The opening for the shoulder strap is 1 1/2" wide. It is designed to fit a standard biker style leather jacket shoulder strap. Or use your imagination for other uses. Order includes one set of 2 epaulets.
My Maille is entirely handmade by me. I wind the wire on a mandrel, cut each link by hand and assemble the piece with pliers using both ancient and modern patterns in my designs. I make what is called butted or butt-ended maille. This means the ring is closed by lining up the ends of the link one against the other. The rings are cut individually using a bolt-cutter with the ends of each link forming a double-sideways V at the closure. This type of ring closure seems to work well for maille armour.
